We began in January 2022 as an after-school club running just one session a week. We quickly saw how transformative giving children access to a creative outlet was; and have since grown and expanded to establish ourselves as a creative hub for everyone.
We run predominantly from our art studio space in Brockham, but also regularly run sessions from various other local venues in and around the area.
We run adult Paint & Sip nights, children's after-school clubs and holiday workshops, drama sessions & LAMDA Coaching, plus our bespoke ‘arty parties’.
We strongly believe engagement in arts-based subjects is key to our wellbeing. It is proven to boost confidence and self-esteem, help with problem-solving, manage and express feelings, alleviate stress and encourage communication skills. The list seems endless. However, over the last decade there has been a cut to arts-based funding for the creative industries. This is having an effect on access and is preventing many children and adults alike discovering and pursuing their talents. Our club's mission is to develop and nourish the artistic minds of each individual, encouraging everyone to explore their own creativity and discover new skills.
Amanda trained at The London Academy of Dramatic Art (LAMDA), before working for 10 years in the acting industry. Amanda worked in film, television and the stage, including films such as 'An Education', 'One Day' and 'Monte Carlo', TV productions such as Casualty, Merlin, Doctors, Eastenders E20 and the west end show 'The browning version'.
In recent years Amanda has re-discovered her love for art and crafting and establishing Brockham Arts Club after-school club meant discovering first-hand how integral the creative arts are to children's development and wellbeing. As the club has grown and expanded, she strongly believes in the huge benefits and mindfulness creative art forms offer to us all.
